The Services SETA established provincial offices with the aim of decentralising its activities, as a platform for our member companies to easily access and participate in skill development initiatives and enable them to engage with us on a one-on-one basis regarding their respective industries. Thus the Services SETA will ensure that the skill requirements of the services sector are identified and that adequate and appropriate skills are readily available\. Acknowledges and enhances the skills of the current work force. Workplace accreditation is a requirement for all employers, regarding of sector, who wishes to register learners on learnerships. The accreditation aims to verify the ability of the workplace to host a specific learnership. Criteria for accreditation include access to resources related to the learnership, the relevance of the work experience component to the qualification, and the structures in place to ensure successful implementation and completion of the learnership. For the majority of learnerships, Services SETA has agreements with professional bodies and Assessment Quality Partners (AQP’s) which are responsible for the accreditation of workplaces. The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) in conjunction with the various SETAs, is responsible for administering the Act, while the South African Revenue Service (SARS) is responsible for the collection of levies. Employers who are liable for payment of the Skills Development Levy (SDL) to SARS, have to nominate the SETA related to their core business upon registration. Services SETA Quality Management Division provides quality education and training that meets sector needs, aiming to work together with other SETA’s, including the government in building a Services sector that supports growth both in rural and urban areas. The QMD aims to work effectively according to the aims of the SAQA and QCTO while working on how this division intends on implementing the objectives to meet the set national and Services SETA target and standards through quality assurance. The department is responsible for developing and designing Learning Programmes and also manages Legacy Qualifications. A process of which an institution, body or person is given formal recognition of their competence based on the criteria in terms of specific purpose. The process of validating that the degree of competence specified in Accreditation is achieved in order for the learners to be certified. The Department ensures that capacity building and the development of training providers is achieved to enable quality delivery of learning interventions.
